#1 Don’t only look for local photographers
Plenty of wedding planning websites and portals will tell you that you should hire the venue photographer or someone local to the destination of your wedding. But we strongly claim that you take your wedding photographer together with you to the destination. There are a couple of reasons for this and not only because we have a vested interest. All leading wedding photography enthusiasts in India travel across the world on assignments. We have enough experience and la mecanique to be able to create stunning images in stunning locations. We understand the rituals and persuits of weddings inside our country and know which instances are important to one or two and their families. Inside case of local or venue photographers, there’s a chance that they might be unqualified for taking pictures, inexperienced in your persuits or ill-versed with your language.
Another reason is the fact if you hire someone closer to home, you will have the possibility to meet them face-to-face and discuss your expectations clearly. Your photographer has to know which instances are important for you. Personally, we make it a point to spend some time understanding our couples in the months before the wedding. It sets a bottom for us by what the couple is like and exactly what they are looking for.

#2 Take your time
Don’t rush and seek the services of a photographer just to tick off one thing through your wedding to-dos. If pictures from your wedding are important to you personally and your partner, then take your time finding the right one. Go over portfolios, wedding trailers and any work that is available online. Actually have face-to-face meetings or Skype calls with your shortlisted photographers and see if you like them and vibe together. You are proceeding to be spending 百分之九十 of your time with your digital photographer and being comfortable with them is very important. It’s an important decision, so if you don’t like someone, communicate your reservations with them. In almost all of our situations, a conversation helps clear our couple’s worries. In case you still don’t like them, move on to the next person on your list.

#3 Be familiar with photographer’s process and style
This particular part is very important in making a good choice. Every single photographer has a definite and different style of working and shooting. The kind of wedding you visualize should also weigh in when you’re making a decision. When you’re speaking to your shortlisted professional photographers, tell them the style, mood, and themes of wedding and reception. However great the photographer might be, if you don’t gel with them or vice-versa, you won’t be able to make great images with them. Ask them of the style and approach of shooting and tell them to prep you ahead of time regarding how the shoot will proceed on the genuine day. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or inform them what you want. In case their style and work matches your perspective, there is nothing like it!

#4 Seldom get bogged down by budget
The budget is certainly one of the main factors in deciding on a marriage photographer for your destination wedding. Any good quality product doesn’t come cheap. And so is the case with good wedding photography and cinematography. The top-end photography enthusiasts are on the higher side involving, but the investment is absolutely worth the cost! We’ve had a great number of young couples come back and tell us that spending on wedding photography was the best decision they created for their wedding.
Nevertheless, we understand that money does count in while making a decision. If the photographer that you love is a little over your budget, we suggest you discuss to them about it. No photographer, including us all, wants to let go of a couple they really like. We are likely to get attached fairly soon. So speak to them and find out if they can customise a package for you. Above the past years, some of our couples have chosen to cut down budget from one or two of the other areas of their wedding, to pay on pictures. And we can securely say that they have not complained. Usually, we claim that you keep a budget of about 10-15% of your total wedding budget for photography. We have spoken previously regarding how you should set your wedding photography budget. You can read it in details here.

#5 Consider the coverage
With a photographer from the venue/resort, you could only get certain hours of coverage. Indian weddings tend to go on for days and into overdue hours of the evening. So the hour-based coverage doesn’t really work well into the equation. Delivering your own photographer will make certain you have all their attention and commitment for the days of your wedding celebrations. Make sure that you mention the coverage they give and discuss extra charges if the events run late so there are no amazed later on. Once we sign on a couple, we give our 100% to them. From the first function to the vidaai ceremony, we’re there. We’re always on with the challenge that different locations throw before us, even if it means shooting in the middle of the night to get that couple symbol under the starry atmosphere!

#6 Can they adapt?
Whilst hiring a photographer, make sure that anyone or company that you’re speaking to has enough resources to be able to pull off a destination wedding. We’re not speaking in words of how big the crew, although that’s certainly a consideration. When you’re arranging a large-scale location wedding with grand festivities and 100-200 people, then make sure that the photographer has enough resources to capture your entire wedding without compromise on coverage. Wedding photography companies, like us, often have enough in-house part of the team to be able to take that off. Independent photography enthusiasts usually hire freelance photographers to complete their team. But whoever you’re discussing to, it’s important that you know if they can arrange a reliable crew to manage the scale of your wedding.
Even if the wedding is small, there are other issues like camera, contacts and memory back-ups. May they manage if some of their cameras, lenses, cards or any other piece of equipment fails in the middle of the wedding? It’s important because substitutions or repairs in some of the destinations aren’t easy. So the team should be prepared for any situation and can adapt to different surroundings.
